I get a lot of questions from recent locals and parents who plan to move here if they should wait to buy or if I can offer tips on what neighborhoods are like, how to navigate the local market. Las Vegas is truly a family-friendly city.

Consider your lifestyle. Are you looking for a quick trip to the shops or the ability to bike, walk or hike just steps from your front door? From cozy older neighborhoods close to shopping to sprawling ranches on the edge of town tucked in the foothills, there are many different neighborhoods across the Las Vegas valley to choose from.

How many bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas and backyard requirements do you need to live well? What are your must-haves and deal breakers? What do you wish for but can live without it needed?

What’s it Like to Live in Las Vegas

We are known for our tight-knit community, always at the ready to lend a helping hand. We have festivals almost weekly, family meetups all over the valley for kids of all ages, an active community of families who want to build a strong community and many opportunities to expand your child’s skills and interests.

The Strip isn’t actually located within the City of Las Vegas limits, and most locals dread having to go there unless it’s for an amazing show, concert, pro sports game or restaurant. We have incredible neighborhood restaurants, area museums, art galleries and incredible parks that are more of an attraction for families than the Strip.

Downtown Las Vegas has more of a longtime local feel and eateries we crave. It’s also centrally located and full of fine dining, fun things to do and is the birthplace of the city in 1905.

If you like the outdoors, you are going to love living here! It’s truly only hot about 2 months out of the year and the coast of California or cool mountain getaways of Utah are a great way to beat the heat. You don’t have to go that far, actually. Mt. Charleston is a good 20 degrees cooler than the valley floor and has camping spots and cabins you can rent to relax in the pines, hike, spot wild horses and Big Horn sheep and loll among the late-summer wildflowers.
