The Story Behind This Printable

When my son basically asked what is a good conversation starter for kids I was stumped. We did some research and came up with some prompts to help him get past his fear of talking to new friends. It worked! He was so relieved, so we made some cards with funny images to further help break the ice when meeting new friends and at big family gatherings.

Then his sister brought home a fortune teller from a party. The swish of the paper as the numbers were counted out and the anticipation of what would be revealed further helped to break the ice. At a park day with numerous new friends, my shy son approached another kid sitting alone and brought out the conversation starter fortune teller. Slow at first, they began a rapport, heads bent over the fortune teller as it opened and closed to finally reveal the next question.
