How to Use This Sample Education Plan for Homeschooling in Nevada

If you’re starting your homeschool journey in Nevada, you’ve come to the right place. Nevada is one of the most homeschool-friendly states in the country, and getting started is easier than you might think. Under Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 392.700, parents have the right to homeschool their children without needing approval from the local school district—as long as they file a Notice of Intent to Homeschool (NOI) along with a simple Education Plan that covers the four required subjects: English, math, science, and social studies.

This Sample Nevada Homeschool Education Plan is designed to make that step easy. It follows Clark County School District (CCSD) guidelines and meets the statewide requirements for homeschool instruction. You can download the ready-to-submit PDF, fill in your child’s information, and attach it directly to your Notice of Intent form before submitting it by mail or email to your county’s homeschool office.

Nevada Homeschool Requirements (At a Glance)

  • Age Range: Children ages 7–18 must be enrolled in school or homeschooled.

  • Filing the NOI: File a one-time Notice of Intent to Homeschool with your local school district (Clark, Washoe, etc.) within 10 days of withdrawing from public school or when your child reaches age 7.

  • Education Plan: Must include basic instruction in English, mathematics, science, and social studies. The plan doesn’t need to list specific textbooks or schedules—just a general outline.

  • No Testing or Reporting: Nevada does not require annual testing, teacher certification, or curriculum approval. Parents have full freedom to choose materials and teaching methods.

  • Recordkeeping: It’s recommended (but not required) to keep portfolios, attendance, and progress samples for your own records.
