Mighty Mogul Level Up Lab

Make Your Products Look Ready to Sell

You spent time making it. Now let’s make sure people stop long enough to see it.

A strong product photo doesn’t simply show what you sell. It helps customers imagine buying it, giving it as a gift or using it themselves.

At our Mighty Moguls Markets, participating Mighty Moguls receive professional product shots they can use as they continue building their businesses.

From Market Table to Business Portfolio

Professional product photos can be used for:

• Social media posts and reels
• Online stores and product listings
• Flyers, menus and price sheets
• Business cards and banners
• Magazine and website features
• Applications, presentations and portfolios

These aren’t just nice pictures. They are business tools.

What Makes Your Product Photos Work?

1. The Product Is the Star

The background doesn’t compete with the product. Your eyes immediately know where to look.

2. The Lighting Shows the Details

Good lighting helps customers see colors, textures, labels and craftsmanship. A dark or shadowy photo can hide the very details that make a product special.

3. The Photo Is Clean

Wrinkled fabric, fingerprints, clutter and random objects can make a good product appear unfinished. Check the entire photo—not just the product—before taking the picture.

4. The Angle Makes Sense

Some products look best photographed straight on. Others need an overhead photo or a close-up to show details.

Try more than one angle. Your first picture doesn’t have to be your final picture.

5. The Photo Tells a Small Story

A few carefully chosen props can help customers understand the product.

A bookmark could be photographed with a book. A bracelet might be shown on a wrist. A decorated frame could hold a finished piece of artwork.

But don’t let the props steal the show. Your product is still the main character.

The Mighty Mogul Photo Challenge

Choose one product and take three different photos:

  1. A clean photo against a plain background
  2. A close-up showing the best detail
  3. A lifestyle photo showing how the product could be used

Then ask someone who has never seen the product:

• What did you notice first?
• What do you think the product is?
• Which photo would make you most likely to stop and learn more?
• What question would you ask before buying it?

Don’t explain the product before they answer. Their first reaction gives you valuable information.

Turn One Photo Into Three Business Tools

Choose your strongest photo and use it to create:

A Social Media Post

Tell people what the product is, what makes it special and where they can purchase it.

A Simple Flyer

Include the product photo, business name, price and contact information.

A Product Description

Complete this sentence:

“I created this for people who __________ because __________.”

Now add:

• What it is made from
• What makes it different
• Available colors, sizes or styles
• Price
• How to order

Before Your Product’s Close-Up

Use this checklist:

☐ Clean the product
☐ Check the packaging and label
☐ Remove fingerprints, dust and loose materials
☐ Choose a simple background
☐ Move near a window or bright light
☐ Turn off the camera flash
☐ Photograph more than one angle
☐ Take a close-up of important details
☐ Look at the entire photo before posting it

Professional Photos at the Mighty Moguls Market

Our next Mighty Moguls Market is Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Fantastic Indoor Swap Meet.

In addition to gaining real-world selling experience, Mighty Moguls receive professional product photos that can help them promote their businesses long after the market ends.

We’ll also welcome 50 local teachers who are coming to support our Mighty Moguls and receive curated classroom supplies.

Our previous market had a waitlist, so early registration is encouraged.

🚀 Previous Level Up Labs

Don’t Sell the Product. Tell the Story.

One of the biggest lessons from this month’s market has nothing to do with lowering prices, making bigger signs, or offering discounts.

It’s this:

People love buying from people.

Imagine you’re walking through the market and see two handmade bracelets.

The first child says:

“They’re $10.”

The second smiles and says:

“I started making these because my grandma taught me how to bead. This blue one reminds me of the ocean, and it takes me about an hour to make each bracelet by hand.”

Which one are you more likely to remember?

Most people don’t buy simply because they need another bracelet, bookmark, candle, or keychain.

They buy because they connect with the person who made it.

Before our August 8 market, take a few minutes to help your young entrepreneur think about their story.

They don’t need a sales pitch. They just need to answer a few simple questions:

  • Why did you decide to make this?
  • What’s your favorite item on your table, and why?
  • What was the hardest part about making it?
  • What do you hope customers notice about your work?
  • If someone could only buy one thing, which would you recommend?

When kids can confidently share the story behind their creations, they’re doing so much more than making sales.

They’re practicing communication.

They’re building confidence.

They’re learning how to connect with people.

Those are skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives—whether they’re running a business, interviewing for a job, giving a presentation, or simply introducing themselves to someone new.

At Mighty Moguls Market, we’re not just helping kids sell products.

We’re helping them find their voice.

Who Is Your Customer?

Every successful business owner knows one important thing:

Not everyone is your customer.

Imagine you sell handmade bracelets.

Who are you hoping will stop at your table?

  • Girls ages 8–12?
  • Moms looking for birthday gifts?
  • Swifties?
  • People who love bright colors?
  • Teachers?

The clearer you are, the easier it is to decide:

What to say when someone walks by

What products to make

What colors to use

How to decorate your booth

What signs to create

This Week’s Challenge

Answer these four questions before Saturday:

  1. Who is most likely to buy from me?
  2. Why would they choose my product?
  3. What is one thing I can say to invite them to my booth?
  4. If I only had five seconds to catch someone’s attention, what would my sign say?

Bonus Challenge

Walk around the market this Saturday and visit three other Kidpreneurs.

Ask them:

“Who is your ideal customer?”

You might be surprised that everyone has a different answer!

The best entrepreneurs never stop learning from each other.

Adding to Your Table With Games

What if customers didn’t know exactly what they were buying?

One of our favorite ideas right now is the Mystery String Challenge. (watch the video to learn how to make a mystery string box)

Here’s how it works:

A customer pays $5 to play.

They choose one ribbon or string.

They pull…

…and reveal a surprise prize inside!

Every prize is something the young entrepreneur created, but no one knows which one they’ll get until they pull the string.

It’s interactive.

It’s exciting.

And customers often remember the experience as much as the prize itself.

“Golden Ticket” Ideas

Every Mystery String Box should have a few “WOW!” prizes that feel extra special but still keep your costs low.

Ideas include:

  • Choose any item from the table.
  • Buy one, get one free.
  • Personalized item made just for you.
  • Free refill (for slime, candles, etc.).
  • VIP shopping pass at the next market.
  • Mystery gift bag.
  • Signed collector’s item.
  • Name a future product or scent.
  • Behind-the-scenes workshop invitation.
  • A photo with the young entrepreneur for the “Wall of Winners.”

What we offer at every indoor market:

Please send photos and/or links of your kiddo at work and/or their products, or at previous markets so we can better plan the booth layout and share their info with our audience (optional)! SCROLL DOWN FOR LOAD-IN MAP.

Rules for events at Fantastic Indoor Swap Meet

As we gear up for the next VKZ Kidpreneur Market, we want to share a few reminders to ensure a smooth and successful event for everyone.

Load in: 10 a.m. at the back of Fantastic Indoor Swap Meet. Must arrive no later than 10:30 a.m.

1. Table Size:
Please remember that we have a 4-foot table requirement for the market. This helps with traffic flow, especially with so many visitors filing through. Please email Kim at Kim@vegaskidszone.com if you have any questions.

2. Space Optimization:
A few kidpreneurs did an excellent job using the space behind their tables for signage and racks. If you’d like to maximize visibility, consider creative ways to use this space effectively!

3. Chairs and Carts:
Please note that chairs will not be provided at this event. Additionally, all carts should be tucked neatly under your table or returned to your car to keep the area safe and organized.

We appreciate your attention to these details and your efforts to make our markets enjoyable for everyone. We can’t wait to see your businesses in action again—let’s make the next market another huge success!

Rules for Parents and Kidpreneurs

To ensure a safe, organized, and fun experience for everyone, we’ve outlined the following rules for parents attending the market with their kidpreneurs. These guidelines help us maintain a positive and professional environment for our young entrepreneurs.

  1. Agreement to Rules
    • Parents are required to review and sign these rules at the beginning of each market. This helps ensure everyone is on the same page regarding expectations.
  2. Uniformity in Table Setup
    • To create a cohesive and professional look, we will be using 4×2 tables such as this example here. This is a crowded market with lots of foot traffic so setting up and tearing down needs to be simple. We also want people to feel comfortable and not crowded when they enter the Vegas Kids Zone Kidpreneur Market at the Fantastic Indoor Swap Meet.
  3. Totes and Carts Must Be Hidden
    • All totes, carts, and extra supplies must be tucked under the table or otherwise kept out of sight to maintain a neat and organized appearance.
  4. Parental Supervision
    • A parent or guardian must stay with their child throughout the market. This ensures the safety and support of all participants.
  5. Encourage Independence
    • While parents should supervise, the focus is on helping kidpreneurs run their own businesses. Let your child take the lead in interactions with customers and handling transactions.
  6. Respect Shared Spaces
    • Be mindful of the space around your table. Keep aisles clear and respect the boundaries of neighboring booths.
  7. Timeliness
    • Arrive on time for setup and ensure your table is ready before the market begins. Clean up promptly after the market ends.
  8. Positive Attitude
    • We strive to foster a supportive and encouraging environment. Parents are expected to model good behavior and kindness toward all participants and attendees.

How to Write an Elevator Pitch for Young Entrepreneurs

Writing an elevator pitch is a great way to succinctly convey your message or idea in a short amount of time, typically around 30 seconds (the length of an elevator ride). Here’s a basic structure you can follow:

  1. Introduction: Start by introducing yourself and your role or what you do.
  2. Value Proposition: Clearly state the value or benefit of your idea, product, or service. What problem does it solve or what need does it fulfill?
  3. Uniqueness: Highlight what makes your idea, product, or service unique or different from others in the market.
  4. Evidence or Validation: Provide some evidence or validation to support your claims. This could be data, testimonials, or success stories.
  5. Call to Action: End with a call to action, such as asking for a meeting, a follow-up discussion, or whatever next step you want the listener to take.

Tips for Kidpreneurs Just Starting Out

We have had many first-time kidpreneurs at our markets over the years. The first thing to know is that other kids at the market will come over and help you set up or answer any questions! We’re a friendly bunch with many experienced kidpreneurs who help each other at the market and with their logos, websites, branding and more as they grow!

Make sure to bring a table cloth and signs. Clearly price all of your items so people don’t have to ask. Stand to the side or in front of your table and invite people passing by to come on over! Many of our kidpreneurs hand out cards or stickers as a way to grab passing people’s attention. If you have any questions, reach out and let us know how we can help!
