Indoor Rock Climbing
The southwest region and area mountains are home to some of the best climbing in the world. That has branched into local indoor rock climbing centers around the valley who cater to kids who want to be just like their world-class rock climbing heroes. There’s also indoor archery for every talent and experience level.
Shopping with a Twist
Have you explored all there is to do and see at an indoor swap meet?! It is one of our favorite things to do when the kids were little and we just needed to get out of the house and look. We always went home with things we didn’t know we needed but gotta have at that price! It’s also fun when the kids start earning money. Let them loose at one of the local swap meets and watch them light up. And it’s free! They have everything, I mean seriously. Grab a goodie and take your time to stroll around and check out everything from clothing to shoes, collectibles, vintage and more.
Bowling for Big Fun
There are homeschool bowling classes at a discount every week in the Northwest and Southeast parts of the valley. If you are planning to go bowling at the spur of the moment, call ahead to make sure the lanes are open and it’s not closed for league days.
Crafts and Creative Endeavors
Local craft opportunities have exploded. It’s not just painting pottery or putting scrapbook pages together. You can paint a canvas (and they even show you how so you walk away all proud about your very own masterpiece!), or you can knit, create a beautiful wood piece of décor or outdoor art. Get some friends together or enjoy a rainy afternoon with your teens at a local craft store with a paint room where you use paint guns to pepper canvases and each other with color!
Trampoline Park
This is pretty basic go-to, but we love it because kids can let loose, feel free, and have some fun. It also wears them out so you can go home and chill without anyone asking you, “What are we doing next?!”.
Indoor Playgrounds for Littles and Bigs
From a tiny town built just for kids to a warehouse full of bounce houses, indoor playgrounds are a great way to get out of weather you don’t want to deal with and into a cool space you’ll love.
At Home

Escape Rooms for Anyone
Got a little escape artist or puzzle people in your fam or friend circle? An escape room is a great way to whittle away an afternoon. You can compete against each other or break into teams to solve riddles in a room or series of rooms. It’s more fun than you expect and even those who weren’t that into it come around when they realize it takes a team to solve the mystery!
Ice Skating Indoors All Year
This is great anytime of year, but particularly in summer. Ice skating rinks are sprinkled around town so there is one relatively close to you no matter where you live in this sprawling valley. Call ahead for downtime deals or if they offer any discounts. Some ice skating rinks host local teams, so make sure they rink is available for open skate.
What to Do In Las Vegas When it Rains
It can be a damper on your plans when you don’t know what to do in Las Vegas when it rains, actually rains! But, if you are stuck inside or visiting, there’s plenty to do on the Strip, including the free Bellagio Conservatory and Gardens (here’s a free treasure hunt to go with the incredible display) but there are a ton of free, low cost and worth checking out things to do around town for any interests.
Shark Reef, Real Bodies, Titanic the Exhibit, Hunger Games and a tour of free activities on the Strip can be a ton of fun indoors. Use the free monorails and pedestrian bridges to get around without getting wet and save yourself a lot of walking in Las Vegas.
